UGG School Musical

Celebrity UGG spotting! Vanessa Hudgens is quite the UGG Australia fan and has been spotted recently sporting the Classic Short in Sand under some yoga pants and looking quite comfy and casual chic.

She’s also been known to rock the Classic Tall in Chestnut over leggings (my personal FAVORITE way to wear them, it’s cute and unbelievably comfortable). What is your favorite way to wear your UGG boots? Are the Classics your favorite or do you prefer something more rugged like the Ultra or maybe something a little more updated like a pair from the Surf Collection?

Save the Cheerleader, Save UGG

Hayden Panettierre was spotted earlier this month leaving a studio in Hollywood wearing (wait for it…) UGG Classic Tall in Chestnut with very short denim shorts!!! That’s right, IN JUNE!!! While this maybe the epitome of terrible taste for some, the look is obviously still strolling So Cal streets on regular folks and celebrities as well. If you ask me I think she looks cute but I know that some of you definitely won’t agree… Discuss! Let us know how you really feel, don’t hold back…

EXCLUSIVE: Hayden Panettiere Arriving At Studio In Hollywood

To shop or not to shop…silly question!

Shopping. It’s an oddly loaded word. You shop for groceries, cars, tires, tools, plants, houses…pretty much anything, really. Yet when you hear the term “going shopping” it takes on a whole new meaning.  Suddenly, there’s fun involved.  (Or, if you were born with an overly prominent Y chromosome, fear and dread.) Going shopping indicates an outing of fun and flippant spending, as opposed to the necessity for paper towels.

We even have “window shopping,” which oddly enough has absolutely nothing to do with purchasing panes of glass, but more to do with drooling at what you can’t have. When we decide to “go shopping” we aren’t necessarily committing ourselves to a particular end goal. In fact, one could say that going shopping is truly one of the most Zen activities in today’s world: it is all about the here and now, the present experience, and not what your credit card bill will look like tomorrow.

So, your brother/boyfriend/father/uncle may ask, what’s the point? You leave your house, go look at stuff you don’t need, browse through racks of things you know you don’t want, and possibly not even purchase a single useful item? That may be, but there’s always the chance you’ll find something perfect. It’s all about the hunt. When we go shopping we are secretly hoping to find treasure, that item that you can’t believe is on sale, or just the perfect purchase that is soooo worth it.

For me I am tempted with the promise of my new dream shoe almost daily. Simply working with shoes entails knowing that each day at work may bring me to that new item that is perfect for the next season, or that last season item that is unbelievably marked down. This is especially great when it comes to UGG. I mean, for a fashion item they’re pretty affordable, and once you get your first pair of real UGG Australia boots you know you could never even think about buying a knockoff.

The temptation is even greater now that FleeceFootwear.com has this wonderful new offer: sign up for an account and get 20% off! So, as more people find out about this wonderful offer, the stock of last season items starts to fall…making now the perfect opportunity to go shopping for that treasure. An incredible price on the last pair of the perfect boot: what can possibly beat that?

Mens UGG: Sexy or Sleazy? by: the UGGadillo

pamela-anderson-ugg3Put Pamela Anderson in a pair of UGG boots and nobody questions her fashion sense, probably because no one is looking at her feet.  Put David Hasselhoff in a pair of UGG boots and WoooooWooooo, the self-proclaimed fashion police blare their dirty sirens.

In the Classic styles, there is no difference between womens and mens UGG bootsMens UGG boots regulate temperature, wick away moisture and are made from top-of-the-line leather and shearling, just like the women’s.  The mens-UGG debate is not a matter of function but rather a matter of that infamous two-headed monster:  fashion and homophobia.  And these, the UGGadillo knows, are in the eye of the beholder.

There are so many things a poor, lowly man is not allowed to do.  He can never feel an ocean breeze swirl beneath his skirt.  He can never know the confidence found in a tube of his boldest red lipstick.  He can’t even admire his calves while shimmying upstairs in pumps.  Why do so many men dress as women on Halloween?  Because women are allowed a buck-wild freedom in style, while men are shackled and chained to what is perceived as “masculine.”david-hasselhoff-pink-ugg3

When men choose an outfit, three things go through their minds.  1.) Is it clean?  2.) Is it comfortable?  3.) Is it gay?

Here at FleeceFootwear, we don’t playa’ hate on sexual orientation.  We don’t care what the captain of a high school football team would say about our style behind our backs.  Maybe mens UGG boots are gay.  We don’t care!  It takes a real man to wear a boysenberry-colored shirt, just as it takes a real man to wear UGG.  If pink Polo shirts can slip through the collective gay-dar, then it’s not a far stretch to say that mens UGG boots can become mainstream based solely on their comfort and versatility.

Rejoice, men of the world!  The UGGadillo says mens UGG boots are not only OK, but they are the sophisticated choice in men’s footwear.

UGG hosts annual “Kidstock” Music and Arts Festival

UGG Australia hosted the yearly “Kidstock Music and Arts Festival” party this weekend at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA. Many famous families attended such as Jason Bateman and family, Greg and Helen Kinnear, Jim and Jenny Belushi,  and former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash with his children, as well as Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie with their little ones. The charitable festivities were held in an effort to raise money for the One Voice Scholars Program. One Voice Scholars Program makes it possible for low income children to attend college on scholarships provided by the colleges, 100% of the children in the program gain admittance to college and 95% graduate from college! UGG Australia had a custom airbrushing tent at the party that was a hit amongst the attending celebrities as well as their kids.  What do you think of the idea of custom UGG boots? Do you customize your own? Share your love for your unique one of a kind UGG boots in the comments!

Congratulations Graduates!

FleeceFootwear is located in none other than Ashland, Oregon, which is just about the cutest little mountain town you ever did see.  Today is an especially festive day in Ashland, because today our high school seniors are throwing their hats high in jubilation:  today is graduation day!

Congratulations Seniors!  Celebrate your hard earned achievements:  you deserve it.

The UGGadillo suggests that you congratulate your special graduate by giving them a bouquet they will never forget:  an UGGquet!  Nothing shows your love more than a soft, cozy UGG Australia boot that will keep your graduate from getting ring worm in the dorms.

The FAUX-pas Of FAUX-Shearling by: the UGGadillo

sheared-sheep1As an UGGadillo my diet typically consists of worms, ants and other insects.  This means I’m not a bonafide vegetarian, but I don’t eat vertebrates.  Which leaves me in the unenviable vegetarian dilemma:  if I choose not to eat mammals, should I also choose not to wear leather?  I’ve thought about this long and hard, and my decision to don leather and suede can be summed up by what a biker chick once told me over a cold one.  She drawled,

“You know, UGGadillo, I don’t eat meat.  But tofu ain’t gonna protect my skin when I roll my Harley.”

That logic is hard to argue with, but tofu isn’t the only alternative to leather.  Technology churns out new polymers and synthetic fibers faster than a platypus can swim (which is about 20 mph).  Scientists are even putting highly toxic Teflon in trousers to prevent wrinkling!  The UGGadillo always strives to be an informed consumer, especially when the environment is involved, since I raise my family in beautiful river valleys.

factory-pollution1Sheepskin and shearling (found in UGG Australia boots) are soft, durable, and natural.  Petrochemicals are used in producing nylon and polyester (found in faux-leather and faux-fur) and burning these creates nitrous oxide-a gas that is over 300 times more toxic than carbon dioxide.  While synthetic fibers can be less expensive than the real-sheep-deal, they also break down and become brittle, no matter how well you take care of your boots.  Here’s a chart that breaks down the environmental impact of harvesting sheep vs. manufacturing synthetics:

Wool

Polyester

  • Quickly-renewable resource
  • Fiber used in least-processed state
  • Naturally fire retardant and antistatic
  • Biodegradable
  • Reusable and recyclable
  • Responsible sheep farming can positively impact degraded land
  • Non-renewable resource
  • Long line of processing
  • Involves use of carncinogens, i.e. benzene, arsenic and antimony
  • Non-degradable
  • No recycling infrastructure
  • Manufacturing process is energy and water intensive

Knowing that natural sheepskin found in UGG Australia boots is less detrimental to the environment than the synthetic fibers found in cheap UGG wannabes makes me one happy UGGadillo!

Addicted to UGG

I’ve been thinking about addictions lately. You know, the fun ones like chocolate, coffee, or watching Scrubs for hours on end. I’ve realized I may have become slightly addicted to UGG boots. They’re comfy. Like, REALLY comfy. I have a pair of Swell Tall boots which got me through my first snowy winter. Now I really want a pair of Pink Coquettes. And I’m not even a person who usually likes pink, but they’re so cute and fuzzy and comfy! Ooh, and a pair of Classic Short Boots, because you got to have a pair of those. For the summer I’ve been eyeing those cute wedge sandals like the Mar and Amelie; they’re the perfect combination of summer fun and fleece cushiony comfort! It’s getting to be a problem, this UGG love. But, like my addiction to coffee and chocolate,  it is SO worth it!

Happy belated “Go Barefoot Day”

Yesterday, June 1st was “National Go Barefoot Day”. While we all know that it’s not really practical or safe to go barefoot all day in any setting, the health department also takes issue with it. However, I chose to celebrate “Go Barefoot Day” by sporting my favorite UGG boots sans socks. What a wonderful way to celebrate the freedom of (pseudo) naked toes without the worry of hookworm, broken glass, or other “street nasties”. Also, “NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO SERVICE” won’t be a problem. How about you UGG lovers? Did you celebrate “National Go Barefoot Day” this year? Would you? Let us know in the comments!

Ugg Online Shopping Guide Update

OK, it is now June 1st, 3 months after having initially written the original article UGG Boots Online Shopping Guide and there has been significant improvement. For a few months there things were really looking bad as many suspect websites had begun creeping into the organic results after having their ads taken down by Google. Surely they were unleashing Google-Bombs of unprecedented size to so quickly achieve ranking on the first page, but I didn’t see Google notice. For a little while there were hardly ANY authorized UGG Australia retailers showing up on the first page for searches relating to UGG. Things have changed a little now…

Now if you perform a search for UGG, UGG, or ,UGG boots in Google you will notice there are less suspect sites and more authorized retailers. Why you ask? Let’s scroll down…

In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 2 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint that caused the removal(s) at ChillingEffects.org.

Those are the words you will find, sometimes multiple times, at the bottom of your search results. What does it mean? It means that UGG Australia has filed a complaint with Goolge based on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The exact details of the claim are not public at this time, but if I had to guess I would say that it’s pretty well known that UGG Australia owns the copyright on the name “UGG” in the United States and they have probably sent some kind of cease and desist order against these sites using the name “UGG” in their domain name, or possibly other copyrighted material, to Goolge. Google then, as is their policy since internet copyright law is still being written, removed these sites from it’s search listing so as not to be held accountable legally in any action against them.

I know, I know, It’s a bunch of techno-legal blabbity-blah, but the end result is, many of the sites you should be worried about are now not to be found on Google. It’s a win for UGG fans everywhere. That said, this fight is a long way from over. There are still a few lingering sites to be wary of that DO show up in Google, and Google has just confirmed that they will no longer be responding to trademark usage in Ads. As a result we see new “bad sites” popping up in the Google ads as we speak. So, we won the battle, but don’t drop your guard! The enemy is still out there and they won’t give up easy. Keep your eyes peeled for the signs of a suspicious site. If you don’t know what they are read over the original article. It’s still relevant and the tips are still right-on!

Or, just buy all your UGG footwear right here on FleeceFootwear.com, your safe, secure, authorized online retailer of official UGG Australia footwear!
