UGG Addiction: Part Two
I am in a relapse. I’d been doing really well, resisting the urge, finding other things to occupy my mind, and generally acquainting myself with the idea of a life without this overwhelming addiction. But it’s hit again. The sneaky thought each day: what shoes do I buy next? Last month it was some Keens, this month I got a new pair of Danskos, and next month…
It’s nearing Autumn, right? It’s totally time to start preparing for the colder months ahead. Never mind that the current temperature is 101, or that my winter wardrobe is firmly packed away at the back of my closet behind rows of summer dresses and tank tops. Besides, I’m going to be traveling to the Bay Area in a couple weeks, and I’ll need some cozy toes to combat the fog!
I must admit, it’s a little scary how easy it is to justify this addiction. “I need a treat because it’s so hot!” Or, “I need to prepare for Winter,” or best of all,” I work hard, I deserve this!” On the other hand, is this an addiction really worth fighting? Might as well give in to the UGGs!
Oh, to be a kid again…
As a now 30 something adult, sometimes I just sit back and remember the good old times. The times when i didn’t have to pay bills, or go to work everyday, or juggle the dynamics of relationships, or any of those adult things we all get to partake in day in and day out. There are for many of us a precious few things that we can hang onto that make us feel, if not like a kid again, like some of our stress has lightened. As a little girl i remember having my favorite doll, a Holly Hobby, that i would carry around with me everywhere, no matter what, i had her with me. UGG boots for many girls and women are much like those favorite dolls we had back in the day. There are so many similarities between them. They give us comfort, they make us feel warm and cozy, we take them everywhere and anywhere no matter what! So the next time I slip into my Classic Short UGG Boots to tool around the house or run to the store, I’m going to remember my doll, and even though I may be an undeniably full blown adult now, I can still find comfort in my favorite things.

So, most of us are on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, or peruse YouTube like the world is about to end. Half the time, I do one or all of the above out of boredom. The other half I am earnestly trying to stay in contact with friends who live many miles and hours away. Sometimes, though, it’s fun to just randomly look up words. Today, I looked up UGG.
When you search for “UGG” on Facebook, you are offered over 500 results to look for. On MySpace UGG searches yield thousands of results from videos to groups to individuals. Same with YouTube; type UGG in and get the option to watch videos about how to care for UGG Boots, a plethora of videos proclaiming that UGG boots are the best/worst shoe ever, and even a short video detailing a dramatic fight to the death for UGG Boots!. And all these results are from typing in the word “UGG.”
Sites like Facebook and MySpace are integral to social networking for today’s world. We’re all so busy that we frequently communicate via electronic mediums. So, what does it say when our primary social groups are strongly entrenched with groups devoted to UGG? I think it signals that UGG is the “It” shoe brand of today. UGG Australia offers so many styles and colors that there’s pretty much something for everyone. They are renowned for their high quality fleece, and they sell the most comfortable slippers my feet have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It’s time to face it: the Internet is everywhere, and UGG is all over the Internet. Therefore, UGG boots are taking over the world!
End of Summer Wish List
I think there really ought to be more holidays in the summer. I mean, think about it: we’ve got Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukkah (and numerous others I probably can’t spell), then Valentine’s Day, and they all happen in colder months. You get candy, and turkey, and eight days of gifts, and chocolate hearts galore! What do we have in the summer? Fourth of July, with fireworks. Meh. Then Labor Day. Wow, the variety is astounding. Worst of all, we don’t get presents in the summer! Well, I say it’s high time we turned that around! Lets have UGG Day! I want a day in the middle of summer to celebrate fleece boots. Partially, because I love irony and irritating the UGG haters. Mostly though, I really want a reason to get excited about UGG Boots when everyone else is dreaming of strappy sandals and bathing suits. We can have a day devoted to dreaming up new styles, or sharing UGG favorites, or simply giving and receiving beautiful UGG Australia footwear! So come on, let’s celebrate UGG this summer!
Hot UGG in the Summertime!
Today I had an UGG epiphany: I now know why we chicas decide to wear fleece boots in the middle of summer. It’s not just a fashion statement, or a rebellion against the UGG-haters, or a dedication to comfort. It’s because we love them and we just cannot wait until winter!
I was trying to figure out what to wear this morning, and yes, it was one of those mornings wear my entire closet ended up on my floor. All I wanted to do was grab a skirt, T-shirt and UGG Swell Tall Boots and dash out the door. Because on a morning where clothing is just such an issue, and it’s hot and hard to make decisions, and it’s the end of the week and I’m tired, all I want is some easy, comfy, gorgeous boots! The only thing that stopped me from grabbing those boots is that it’s laundry day, and there are no socks left. (The UGG Swell Tall has fleece lining everywhere inside the boot except the sole, upon which I have added an orthopedic insert for optimal comfort/ health/style. )
So, you know what this means doesn’t it? It means I love UGG Boots far more than I’d ever realized. It means I seriously need to get me a pair of Classic Short Boots or Classic Cardys to wear when my UGG cravings hit in the middle of summer. Most importantly, it means that there is no limit to how and when you choose to wear your UGG boots!
UGG you!
I keep reading Fluff Momma’s entries as she visits the Bay Area with some fabulous UGG Boots. I myself am hoping to go to “The City” before the summer is out. When planning a trip it is imperative to consider wardrobe choices. Yes, it is summer, but San Francisco is just as well known for fog as any other type of weather, regardless of the season. With this in mind, UGG is starting to look like a mighty fine choice. Of course, some of my friends who I’ll be visiting there have a bit of disdain for UGG, so the decision becomes a little more fraught with tension: do I pack a short skirt and Classic Short boots just to spite them, or do I go for the adorable and subtle Cove or Kona to tempt my unwilling friends to the “UGG Side.”
What is the general opinion here: embrace the stereotypical UGG looks and flaunt them before my resistant friends, or blaze a new trail with a completely new clothing/UGG combination?
Summer Dreaming of Fall Days
I love summer. I love the sweltering hot days that almost immobilize you and make the only logical activities swimming and eating ice cream. I love the light summer skirts and sandals the accompany such weather, and the healthy dose of vitamin D we are all immersed in. However, as the days of 90-something degrees stretch on it’s easy to look forward to sweaters and days spent sipping tea by a fire place. And with this fanciful imagining of fall days comes an inexplicable longing for something cozy…like UGG. I especially start to dream of lazy fall days as my summer schedule stays oddly hectic. I can just picture it: sleeping in til 10, making some coffee and toast and curling up on the couch with a novel in my softest sweat pants, cashmere sweater, and decadent UGG slippers. If I have to leave the house, there’s a pair of Classic Tall Boots by the door, to make the transition from indoor laziness to outside activity that much smoother.
I guess in today’s world what we all need every now and then is a lazy day of nothing, a day to pamper yourself and just relax with a book, a movie, or friends and family. The icing on the cake is the homey feeling from your favorite pairs of UGG.
I’m happy to enjoy this hot season as it lasts, and to celebrate that UGG offers a lovely sampling of summer sandals, but I do look forward to cozying up to a day of nothing with a book and my fluffy UGG Coquettes!
Kendra gives the gift of UGG
Former “Girls Next Door” star Kendra Wilkinson who recently wed NFL player Hank Baskett, reportedly gave each of her bridesmaids a pair of UGG Lo Pro (coming soon to www.FleeceFootwear.com, keep your eyes peeled!) in white eyelet as well as some other posh goodies. I think this is a fabulous idea and wish I would have thought of such a thing for my own bridesmaids. Who wouldn’t love a fabulously cute pair of comfy boots as a gift!? What would you think about a whole bridal party sporting UGG?
UGG gets crafty
This UGG junkie recently made the pilgrimage to San Francisco for the Renegade Craft Fair. What did I see upon my arrival? UGG, UGG, UGG! This is definitely not a surprise as UGG and The City By The Bay are synonymous. What was a surprise, however was the colors that I was seeing. Maybe it was because I was in such a creative place, but those attending the fair were not wearing your typical “neutral” (IE: sand, chestnut, chocolate, black) UGG boots. The color that I saw the most of was Aqua! It was such a refreshing sight! Not only was it nice to see some colorful UGG boots but the way in which they were worn was also exciting. Striped tights, thigh high socks and short skirts were accented by the lovely shade of blue. Something about that color makes my heart happy and it’s even better when worn with other fun colors. It was an inspiring weekend!

Camping abound!
Tis the season for those outdoorsy loving types to get all geared up and pitch a tent in some remote area away from all the busy hubbub of daily life. I am one of those such outdoorsy types. Although I love the city, there’s nothing like being outside with nature and silence, taking in the fresh air and green forests of the Pacifiic Northwest. As I was contemplating where my next camping locale will be I had another thought, “I should really get a pair of UGG boots to go camping!” Talk about the perfect solution to chilly nights and having to wander out of your tent in the dark half asleep to find an outhouse. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hazily fumbled around with laced tennis shoes while trying not to knock over my tent or step on my partner in just those such situations. How nice it would have been to just slip on a pair of UGG boots; warmth and ease! I think a pair of UGG classic shorts in chocolate would be perfect. A nice dark color so they won’t get dirty easily out in the wilderness and they blend in with the woods! I think i may have figured out my next purchase.
