A matter of perspective…

You know what’s fun to do? Judge other people. It’s a rather dreadful part of the human experience, but we all do it. And we judge the stupidest things too: “You did WHAT to your hair?” “You want to be THAT when you grow up?” “You asked WHO to prom?” It seems we never tire of telling people what we think of their choices, or mocking others to our friends. Sometimes it’s as though high school never ended.

Most of the judgments we make are purely superficial, and not really meant to harm. However, most of the time they are negative. So, for today I want to try something different: let’s take something we might not usually find aesthetically appealing, and find the good side! Let’s celebrate people’s bizarre and daring fashion choices:

First on the list:lucy-davis-ugg-ugg-boots-001Actress Lucy Davis on a break during filming. Let’s applaud her daring in color choices, and embracing comfort (and UGG!)in her hectic schedule!

Then, of course, Katie Price is always up for a daring move: katie-price-sunflower-ugg-boots-003Who else do you know who would have the panache to carry off beautiful Classic Tall Sunflower boots with leopard print leggings? Ms. Price is doing her part to celebrate the 80’s!

Bruce Willis gets major points firstly for being man enough to wear a pair of UGG Classic boots! And of course, for paying respectful homage to the cavemen of latter years.

Last, but certainly not least, the adorable and talented Dakota Fanning. What inventiveness it takes to wear schoolgirl knee-high socks with a pair of UGG slippers! Her ingenuity is just a part of what makes her such a brilliant young actress.

So, how did that feel? Isn’t it just as much fun to decide to acknowledge the value of creative choices, over an accepted and mundane aesthetic? Let’s be daring, and who cares what others think!

Kudos for that! It’s time we all stop pointing the finger at others and look deeper into ourselves. We all are individuals and deserve to be recognized for our individual taste and style. Good call.
