The City of UGG!

The day is finally here! (Well, sort of…the day is tomorrow, so it’s mostly here.) I’m going to be driving down to San Francisco tomorrow to embrace all that The City has to offer! And what will I be wearing once I get there? My fabulous UGG Swell Tall Boots.

San Francisco is well known for its incredible variety of weather; often within the same day you’ll get rain, sun, wind, and fog. Coming from a relatively consistent climate, packing requires a bit of imagination. To combat any fashion confusion I have decided to go the layering route. Skirts, dresses, tank tops, cardigans, leggings, and jeans all can be layered to suit almost any type of weather. Add a summer scarf, some bangles, big sunglasses and a fabulous hat et voila! Instant chic!

Shoes are, of course, important.  To some people, packing for a 4 day trip is easier than a month long vacation. This is not true for me. The shorter the trip the more imaginative I have to get with the options I give myself…and worse, I have to limit the shoes I bring! After much careful deliberation I’ve determined that my look requires one pair of boots (UGG, of course), one pair of cute yet comfortable shoes for walking the city (Keen Mary Janes) and one pair of ridiculous and fun shoes for a city outing (Seychelle emerald heels.)

Although I was tempted to bring a pair of UGG Kona for a different boot look and a pair of Dakota’s for the super-cute moccasin/jeans look, but I resisted! Besides, at my current rate of a new pair of shoes a month I’m sure I’ll come up with new ways to show off my UGG boots!

Let the holiday shopping begin!

While I was wondering through Costco the other day, something caught my eye. There was an amazing end display, you know the ones that are meant to catch everyone’s eyes, loaded up with Christmas ribbon. That’s right. It’s August and a bohemoth of the retail industry is beginning to put that bug in everyone’s brain…the holidays are coming and they will be here sooner than you think. Well it got me thinking after I nearly passed out from pure shock and nausea.

The holiday season seems to begin earlier every year, but if you stop to think about it, maybe it’s not so bad. I know for me, it’s nice to purchase gifts and wrap and ribbons ahead of time so I don’t end up spending a ton and racking up ginormus credit cards bills all at once. It seems easier on the pocket book to plan ahead a bit, although I think 4 months ahead is still kind of silly.

And my mind wonders to shopping during the ‘peak’ of the holiday season…that time between the weekend after Turkey Day and Christmas. Fighting traffic in parking lots, on the road, and foot traffic at the mall. Waiting in never-ending lines while being tempted by all the little things retailers put out where those lines form…Do I REALLY need another Chapstick??? And all the other craziness this shopping time brings with it. I’m sure you have your own horror story. So why not shop now and save yourself from the insanity that is holiday shopping?

Even better, do your holiday shopping online and avoid going out to shop all together!! But again, shopping early is recommended in order to insure you get your order before Christmas and to insure that must have item is in stock. I know from experience that the early bird gets the UGG worm! Which is where FleeceFootwear.com can really come in handy. This is one stop shopping at its best. With a large selection and free shipping, this is the place to buy UGG for the whole family! Luxurious boots for the ladies; super comfy slippers for the gents; and plenty of footwear to keep the little one cozy. What more could you ask for in a site dedicated soley to all your UGG needs? And with that, I say ‘Let the holiday shopping begin!’

Oh, to be a kid again, part deux!

If i didn’t know any better, I would say it’s October by the weather today. It’s uncharacteristically cold for August, and there’s a bitter wind nipping at my bare arms when i walk outside. Days like this make me want to crawl up on my couch, cover up with a blanket, eat tomato soup and grilled cheese and watch reruns of Sex and the City. But alas, it is still summer, and i know we will have many more warm days before the real fall weather comes to pass. But I am reminded it is indeed the time of year when moms load up their kids into the car and head off to the nearest shopping mall or outlet stores to do that ever enticing annual pre-academic dance…Back to School Shopping!! Oh how I miss being able to get a new wardrobe every August and not have to pay for it. I yearn for the days when all it took was a little whining and some negotiating and i got those pair of shoes I was dying to have. The mall food court pit stops to Orange Julius and the bickering with my mom over her taste in clothes and mine. Of course she who holds the checkbook holds the decision making. But now that i am holding the checkbook, I am deciding to treat my wardrobe and myself with UGG Boots. I plan for this years “back to school shopping” to include more than one pair of UGG boots, maybe even three or four. That’s right folks, it’s no holds barred. The UGG Classic Talls in chestnut because they are basic and convertable. The UGG Bailey Button in grey because they are just too cute and would go with leggings and jeans, and we all know the 80′s are back. The UGG Raya boots in warm taupe because they are unquestionably sexy. And of course, I would have to have the UGG Classic Cardy in Sorbet, because my closet is crying out for a pair of adorable pink boots. There are so many cute styles I just have to have them, and my mom isn’t there to say NO! ;-)

With every season…

After what seems like ages of steaming hot weather, bright sunny days, and cloudless skies we’ve finally got a day to remind us we are in Oregon. It’s slightly windy, overcast skies, and just the right temperature to make you want to crawl right back to bed with a cup of tea and a book.

On such a day it’s easy to feel melancholy. This weather can be delightful when the leaves are turning and you can feel the season changing, but right now it’s just an abrupt switch from swimsuits to sweaters without any feeling of seasonal momentum.

I was looking through the colors and styles that we have on our UGG site. I was instantly perked up when I found the Kids Cardy Black boot. This boot so cute with it’s multi-color buttons.

Of course, once I found that cute bit of footwear I had to keep looking. The Kids Classic Camo (in Blue, Brown and Pink) is also a treat, for those tiny tykes who aspire to be Rambo and Winnie the Pooh all in one.

With all these exciting colors and styles my favorite find has to be the Womens Foliage in Mink. I barely even knew this shoe existed, an ignorance that has been happily rectified.

It is such a cute little clog in an adorable color, perfect to perk me up on this grey August day.

Although I would love to be curled up in bed with Jane Austen, Oregon Chai, and UGG Cozy II slippers, it is a delightful past time to view all the lovely and inspired colors currently offered by UGG Australia!

Bare Neccessities

Remember The Jungle Book? We got a whole song of Baloo telling us about the basic things we need and to let the rest slide. I think maybe that big bear was on to something. In fact, most of our childrens’ stories (often courtesy of Disney) have some valuable lessons to teach us. The genie in Alladin whispers in his ear to ” Be yourself!” There’s the ever famous Hakuna Matata (and please don’t tell me you need to be told which one THAT is from,) Snow White whistled while she worked, and the Little Mermaid wanted nothing more than the simple pleasure of sand between her toes…you know, when she finally got toes.

It seems that our great cache of childhood stories are teaching us to relax and enjoy the simple things in life. Goodness knows we all have to deal with work, jobs, family (parents, children, siblings, and Crazy Uncle Al), as well as the myriad of bizarre stressers that tax us daily, (“do I get the Tuna Casserole or the Egg Salad Sandwich…or a piece of cake?”)

UGG fits pretty well into this whole “enjoy the simple things” mentality. Take a breath, get over it, and go for a simple choice. The Classic is certainly lacking in excess frills, and is truly comorting in its softness, just like a blankie was when we were younger.

I agree with Molly Mayfaire’s article “Oh to be a kid again” on the longed-for comforts that soothed us as children. Our need for assuagement does not diminish as we get older, but the things we have to ease our day evolve. The teddy bear becomes the UGG Coquette slipper, and going to the store in a pair of Bailey Button boots can help you revisit the comfort of your onesie. It really is about the simple pleasures, and how wonderful that the luxurious UGG is in fashion!

So remember Baloo:

Look for the bare necessities

The simple bare necessities

Forget about your worries and your strife!

Model Behavior

Have you ever thought about how difficult it must be to be a model? Objectified from every angle, assumed to be dumb as a post, for the most part careers are over by age 22, and the clothes you have to wear are more modern art than ready-to-wear. Worst of all, think of the shoes. Yes, there are gorgeous examples of modern footwear strutting up and down catwalks worldwide, but the majority of them are 5 inch stillettors, massive platforms, or covered in enough  tight straps and jewels that even Zsa Zsa Gabor would cringe. Hardly comfortable footwear for the workplace.

How lovely, then, that a new brand of footwear is starting to take over the catwalks. A saving grace to those poor models toes, heels, ankles, and backs: UGG Australia is saving these beautiful women’s feet!

Another unfortunate aspect to high fashion is it’s lack of accessibility. I may pine over the newest diamond encrusted heeled creation from Stuart Weitzman, but I am also well aware that the chances of ever seeing one in person, let alone owning them, are pretty low. Knowing this, it’s really rather satisfying to look at the UGG Australia fashion line and know that next season I will own a pair.

What with a whole new series of development in politics and economics, it seems that there is a revitalization of democracy. So, lets revive fashion for the people! We can strut our sassy pair of UGG Raya Boots, or rock the new  Bailey Button.  Comfortable fashion for women on the move and accessible beauty for people everywhere!

Celebrity UGG Spotting: Selena Gomez

“Wizards of Waverly Place” beauty Selena Gomez was spotted strolling the streets of NYC yesterday. The Disney darling was blissfully listening to her ipod and was sporting a white cami, white cardigan, light wash jeans, and UGG Australia Classic Talls in sand. She wore her UGG boots with her jeans tucked in and the tops folded down to expose some of the lovely shearling lining. Are you a tucker? What about a folder? Share your personal UGG style with us in the comments section!
