Almost everyday is some sort of holiday!
November is approaching, and so of course we think of Thanksgiving and Black friday, but do you know about the more unique days to celebrate in November? Here are a few of the more exciting days!
November 3rd, Housewife’s Day! Housewife’s day, also referred to as RETRO housewife Day. The term housewife goes back to the days when one income could support the entire family and the wife could stay home to help create a strong home and family environment. Celebrate these ladies, help with the laundry, cook them a meal, or bring by some flowers to celebrate their selflessness.
November 5th, Book Lovers Day! This is pretty self explanatory! Get your favorite book, or buy a new one and curl up somewhere with a warm cup of your favorite drink. This holiday should be abided by and taken very seriously. It’s a great excuse to slow down.
An all time favorite!
November 13th, NATIONAL INDIAN PUDDING DAY! National Indian Pudding Day is a shout out to the Native American Indians, and appropriately close to Thanksgiving, and the famous first feast they played a part in. Help to honor them by making a delicious pudding. Check out this delicious version from our friends at Simply Recipes.
November 15th, Clean Your Refrigerator Day! I think this one is self explanatory too. But I have my own theory as to why this is necessary. For me, I will be cleaning out my fridge getting ready to fill it with Thanksgiving preparations, and of course, the leftovers. You cannot put a pot of mashed potatoes on top of a tin of pumpkin pie, these things are tactical.
November 17th, Take a Hike Day & World Peace Day! I feel like these go hand in hand. Get outside and go somewhere beautiful , stop and take a moment and embrace the peaceful feeling you get when you reach your hiking destination! Enjoy this image of our Valley!
November 28th, Red Planet Day! Our celestial neighbor, Mars is referred to as the “red planet”. On November 28th, take some time to gaze into the sky and see if you can find our neighbor. This holiday commemorates the 1964 launch of the Spacecraft Mariner 4 on this day. Here’s to a cloudless night!
Pick one or two, or ALL and enjoy yourself!
Are people really skinning dogs for ugg boots?
I kept running across articles talking about people skinning dogs in the process of creating counterfeit Ugg Boots, so I had to see what was going on. It turns out that there is a big fur trade going on involving a dog indigenous to east Asia called the raccoon dog. These dogs are being farmed in China and furs are being sent to Australia labeled as ‘Australian sheepskin’ because of the low cost on these furs, being used to make imitation UGG boots.
Sadly, the answer is yes, people are skinning dogs to attempt a version of the boots we all love. This is even more of a reason to buy authentic UGG Austrailia boots so this injustice to raccoon dogs is stopped. Be part of the solution and buy genuine UGG Australia products from authorized dealers only.
We are halfway through October, what are you buying to donate to breast cancer awareness?
Breast Cancer awareness month is a great time to treat yourself or someone you love and help out an important cause at the same time. There are so many great deals on stuff we all love with proceeds as high as %20 going to fund Breast Cancer Awareness. I could go through the heartbreaking statistics of breast cancer, and the growing number of affected women and their loved ones, but this post is staying positive and highlighting easy ways that you can help.
1. Don’t we all love OPI nailpolish? This year they have created the shatter finish nail polish in “Pink of Hearts” in $8.50, and they are donating a whopping $25,000 to Komen for the Cure.

2. Send a kind note to someone who needs a pick me up.

3. How much fun, a lip tattoo! Not a real one, don’t fear. Violent Lips has created a lip tattoo for $10 with $2 from each purchase going directly to The National Breast Cancer Coalition.

4.Prefer to keep it simple? Try the 3 pack by ChapStick! At $3.99 you can’t go wrong, and ChapStick has donated a cumulative total of over $525,000 to fund awareness and research.
Will the new Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement affect the search results for UGG
The United States, Japan and six other countries signed the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement in Tokyo on October 1. This is good news for UGG Australia who has been working so hard to control the explosion of counterfeiters in just the past couple years. China has not signed this agreement yet but will be pressured by these countries that already signed. The treaty, for which negotiations began in 2008, is designed to enhance international frameworks for fighting the distribution of counterfeit brand goods and pirated music and film products. Now we will see how this new treaty will affect the number of counterfeiters we are seeing in the search results. We will continue to monitor the search results and keep you updated. Our last report found here gives you an idea of how these counterfeiters are getting highly ranked in google search results, so beware and shop with care.
Searching for ugg in google
So today I asked myself how rampant are the fake ugg sites in a google search and how bad will they get? So I decided to check it out . So I go to google.com type in “ugg” and get my results back. I also have a window open with UGG Australia’s Authorized Online Retailers so I can verify each site I find in my google search.(9/30/11) So first is uggaustralia.com and of course they are legit. Then zappos.com and amazon.com. Then wikipedia.com which is not on the list but they do not sell UGG so they are ok. Nordstrom.com, cozyboots.com, thewalkingcompany.com, shopbop.com, victoriasecret.com, shoes.com all checkout on the authorized list. Now on to page two at the top we have shopstyle.com which is not on the list but if you look at shopstyle.com you see it is a shopping network where other retailers list their products and when the purchase an item it direct to the the retailers website. Next on page two is bloomingdales.com, overland.com which both check out on UGG Australia authorized list. Then we see polyvore.com which is not on the authorized online list but they another type of shopping network listing others who sell UGG products. I did notice something when I went to polyvore.com was that the first site they listed was mytheresa.com which I can not find on the UGG Australia authorized list but I will have to go back later to check the shopping networks because now I am focusing on just the google results. So back to the fifth result on page two for “ugg” I find 6pm.com which is not on the authorized list but after some further inspection it looks that 6pm.com is zappos.com. Onto the sixth result which is tillys.com then superlamb.com and onlineshoes.com are all on the list. Then there is styleshoesbuy.net which is not on the authorized list but when you try and go to the site you get a page that says account suspended so maybe UGG Australia is in process of taking them down. Then the last result on page two I see barenecessities.com which is on the authorized list.
Moving on to page three and at the top we see asos.com which is not on the authorized list of online retailers and after some inspection I find out that they are from the United Kingdom and are one of the largest online-only fashion and beauty stores in the UK. Next on the results is aukoala.com who again is not on the list but is an Australian company that makes uggs. Third result on page three is tobi.com and is authorized. Fourth is reviews.ebay.com which is definitely not on the authorized list. Fifth result on page three is uggbootsclearanceday.com now we have hit one of the dreaded fake ugg sites which is not on the authorized list and is using a common thing to look for in fake sites which is using the word ugg in the domain name. I won’t talk much more about this site but I will continue to move down the results to see how many more of these sites there are. So next we have shoes-boots.net this site looks to mainly have information on it and then links off to other sites for the actual selling of any products. Next in the results is shopping.yahoo.com again not on the list of authorized sellers but they do not actually sell any product themselves they are just a shopping network of other sellers of UGG Australia products. Last result on page 3 is konasports.com which is on the authorized online retailers list.
Now for page 4 google results searching “ugg” we see at the top boots.iafnet.org and is not on the authorized list but what is it? This site looks like a page with some ugg info on it that and the links go off to zappos.com and the walkingcompany.com. Second result is onlineuggbootsclearance.com which has the tell tale sign of a fake ugg site and it has the word ugg in the domain name. It is not on the authorized list and it looks very similar to uggbootsclearanceday.com so watch out for these sites! Now we are on to the third result on the 4th page which is footwearetc.com and .hansensurf.com which are both on the UGG Australia authorized list. Then we have uggbootsgloves.com watch out here is another bad guy site looks again just like those others and it has ugg in the domain name and is not on the list of authorized sellers. The sixth result eilatan.com is on the list. Then there is collectorsweekly.com which is not on the list but does not sell UGG product. Next is softmoc.com and they are not on the list. I went to their site and and did a quick live chat and found out they are located in Canada. Next we have 1stopboots.com who again is not on the authorized list so I had to check out the site. I found out that this is another one of those single pages with ugg info on it but all links go to the walkingcompany.com who is an authorized seller.
So out of the first four pages of results I found that only 3 sites where actually trying to sell conterfiet UGG Australia products and they where pretty easy to spot because of the fact they use the word “ugg” in the domain name. I also found out there are a few shopping networks that might be displaying some products from potential counterfeiters so I will have to delve into that on my next article. So stay tuned for when I do this search again and see what I find as the season progresses.
Toenails bare.. Do you dare?
Ok, so apparently a new trend in toenail polish is to have NOTHING. Thats right, completely bare. You will probably not find any images attatched to this post because googling bare toenails gives some, interesting, uh, concerning results. Then for some reason I googled ‘crazy toenails’, again, images I cannot take back from my brain. I really just wanted to find a cartoon image… lesson learned. Moving right along. Ladies, is this something you can do? I embrace the new shades that come out every season. I’ve tried some questionable yellows, grass green for Summer, there have even been a few different reds which never quite wqrk with my skin tone, but bare, NEVER. Even during Winter when they are hidden under boots, I love to gaze down at well pedicured little piggies. I may just try this trend, although I fear for what lies beneath. Tell me, can you pull this off? If so, here’s to you, diva!
Would you wear boots designed by Snooki?
Here at Fleecefootwear.com, we love all warm sheepskin boots, and don’t discriminate in the name of fashion, except for FAKES. This however, is questionable
So, i’m sure at this point we all know Snooki from the Jersey Shore, the pint sized sometimes loved, and often parodied “breakout star”. But, did you know she is debuting her own line of sheepskin boots and slippers? The line includes four designs, ranging from Zebra print, to leopard, and of course sequins. On the upside the materials used are natural skeepskin and cowhide and word has it that no animals were killed to create the line.
Personally, I am proud to admit that I have only ever seen one episode of Jersey Shore, it and is because I walked in on it. For lack of a better description, the show makes me feel greasy. I worry that the over tan over gel-ed styles will quickly be emulated by our easily impressionable youth, but hey, to each their own. But I ask, would YOU wear these boots? If so check out Snookislippers.com before you GTL.
Get That Sexy Napoleon Dynamite Look, OR Sassy Darth Vader Maybe?
From previous posts, its safe to say we love all things sparkly here at Fleecefootwear. We are also Napoleon Dynamite fans, as everyone should be. In fact, a co-worker has such a strong devotion that the notorious dance is on her bucket list. IF this ever comes true rest assured it will be videoed and added to the blog with celebration! All this conversation has been inspired by the new UGG Over The Knee Bailey Button Sparkle.
Me personally, my first thought was of a very sassy Darth Vadar, maybe with a jewel encrusted light saber?
Fall 2011 Fashion Watch – Ponchos.. No Really
Ok guys, so we report trends, even the ones we don’t agree with. So apparently the Poncho is back and has been gracing runways with a preview of ,ahem, what you want this Fall. (insert confused expression here) Houses of high fashion from Rag & Bone to Alexander Want have been previewing minimal styles for todays girl on the go. Now, when I hear ponchos I picture Ugly Betty on her first day at MODE.
It turns out that they had something more fashionable in mind. What do you think? a Do or Don’t? let us know!
